Job Description

First Achieves Engineering Division have a fantastic opportunity for a Deep Hole Borer, to join their clients organisation, working within Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Defence & Aerospace industries.As a result of their recent investments, they are seeking experienced, Deep Hole Borers to join their growing team.A highly desirable trait would be to have experience within a Heavy / Large Machining environment, but not essential.4 Day Week - Monday - Wednesday; 5:30pm - 6am, Thursday; 5:30pm - 3am.Whats on Offer

The Role
  • Operates one or more machines per operation sheets.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Identify/segregate any non-conforming parts utilising the non-conformance reporting system.
  • Perform necessary tool changes as prescribed in process.
  • Gauge parts to drawings / job card specifications.
  • Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Make necessary machine offsets as required.
  • Perform setups based on process sheets and setup documentation.
  • Perform 1st piece production first off check.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production/machining issues.
  • Download part programs into machine controls.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Experience
  • 1-3 years experience operating deep hole borers.
  • 1-3 years demonstrated ability to set up deep hole borers and various hand tools as required in a machine shop environment.
  • Ability to read drawings, process documentation and inspection measuring devices.
  • Ability to identify/correct production machining issues.
  • Ability to maintain the required production rates.
  • Being able to stand and walk around for the shift, will make reasonable adjustments to accommodate individuals with disabilities to carry out the work.
  • Some basic knowledge of measuring equipment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, interest, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. The abilityto apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • NVQ level 3 in Engineering and/or equivalent or a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role (desirable).
  • GCSE A-D in English, Maths or equivalent (desirable).
