Consultant Flood Risk ModellerSheffieldSalary £40kI am currently seeking an enthusiastic, positive, and confident Flood Risk Consultant Modeller for my clients Flood Risk and Water Management Team who can contribute to the delivery of flood risk projects and work closely within a team of specialists in Sheffield.Their specialists and Engineers offer a comprehensive range of services to Flood Risk Management Authorities, transport agencies, local authorities, utilities, wildlife trusts and developers covering all aspects of project delivery from concept, through appraisalto detailed design, planning application and construction management support.In this role you will be responsible for the hydraulic modelling of river, surface water, sewer drainage or coastal processes (using ICM, Flood Modeller, Tuflow, Hec-RAS etc.), hydrological analysis (Flood Estimation Handbook, WINFAP, ReFH2 etc.) and modellingto inform flood alleviation option appraisals. You will carry out Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Studies, Flood Risk Strategies and Surface Water Management Plans, write flood risk assessments and technical reports for flood modelling studiesthe delivery of works and be provided training in project management. Knowledge of the use of GIS software (QGIS, MapInfo, ArcGIS etc.) and large datasets (Excel etc.) is required, as is experience of hydraulic modelling using either: Flood Modeller, Tuflow, InfoWorks ICM, Hec-RAS and experience of using GIS software using QGIS,ArcGIS, MapInfo. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge or experience of hydrological analysis such as: FEH, WINFAP and ReFH2. Experience of managing and analysing large complex datasets (this may be in Excel or similar software), the understanding of hydrological and hydraulic principles and their practical application in the water environment and experience of writing flood riskassessments and technical reports for flood studies is expectedIdeally a non-chartered member and working towards Chartered status of a relevant institution (for example CIWEM, ICE), you will have a relevant degree in geography, environmental science, or engineering and appropriate knowledge of flood risk practices andtechniquesMy client recognises that work is only one part of your life and making time for other things is important - whether thats for your families, friends, or yourself.
