Job Description

Our prestigious client, based in the UK (Sheffield), is actively seeking talented 2 Senior + 2 Mid Level PHP Developers to join their dynamic team.You will be helping the established development team to:

  • build high-performing Laravel APIs
  • Vue.js
  • maintain our internal tools
  • build new features for our client portals
  • integrate with third party APIs
  • write high quality code
  • write tests
  • support junior developers
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex PHP web applications using Laravel (and its eco-system), ensuring the applications are efficient and reliable, PSR-12 compliant.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure high-quality coding standards are met and offer feedback to other developers for necessary changes or improvements.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and functional tests for new and existing features to ensure robustness, reliability, and performance.
  • Contribute to architectural and product development decisions and implement best practices and coding standards to ensure high-quality, scalable, and efficient solutions.
  • Mentor junior developers working alongside you on projects, sharing Laravel and general web development best practices. Assist in their professional development and coding skills.
  • Collaborate closely with team members, including front-end developers and UX/UI designers, to ensure effective integration of the front-end elements with the server-side logic.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software, ensuring software efficiency and reliability. Constantly looking for improvement areas in system design or performance.
Required Experience
  • 4+ years of working with Laravel on production applications
  • High-level of understanding of the Laravel eco-system
  • RESTful API architecture and development
  • Experience working with third-party services and APIs
  • Strong understanding of modern web development patterns with PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML and JavaScript
  • Practical experience with unit testing (PhpUnit, Pest) PHP applications
  • Strong understanding of git and version control
  • Experience with MySQL performance patterns, caching, queues
  • Understanding of SOLID principles
Desirable Experiences
  • Experience working with AWS / Laravel Vapor / cloud hosting services
  • Experience with VueJS, Typescript
  • Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, CSS design systems
  • Integration automated testing with Cypress, Katalon, Selenium
  • Other PHP framework experience
  • Legacy PHP application migration to modern PHP frameworks
