Job Description

Permanent CNC Turner - Glasgow33,500 to £35,000 A unique opportunity has arisen to join arguably one of the most reputable, well known brands worldwide within the Manufacturing industry. This organisationprides itself on working with the best equipment, and suppling multiple different market leadingclient within Defence, Aerospace, Automotive and most recently Renewables. The working environment is second to none for all workers, the progression prospects are endless and they have some of the latest machinery in the industry sector. The bulk of the machinesare Mori Seiki, Doosan Grubb which you will be tasked with maintaining both from a breakdown and planned perspective. Purpose of the role: To effectively operate conventional or CNC Lathes to produce components which meet or exceed the Companys quality, operating and delivery standards, whist maintaining work area and machinery in good working order. To maximiseproduction and comply with Companys Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.(As the part of the job involves operating advanced high precision machines, training will be provided)What does a day-to-day look like

  • Produce Right First Time components, from customers drawings to required cycle times
  • Reduce costs and time for set up, manufacture, and increase throughout. All jobs should meet their set up time and run time by the end of the third production batch.
  • Maintain a cost effective and high standards of production
  • Prior to proceeding with any job, ensure that all relevant information and tooling are available to enable safe, successful, on time and the right first-time machining to proceed.
  • Have all program edits verified (using VERICUT). When programs run following an edit, always adhere to the use of single block, feed rate down and distance to go until the edit is proven
  • Improve production/manufacturing methods
  • Maintain work area and machinery to high standards
  • Maintain high level working knowledge of machines, cutting speeds and feeds, geometric tolerances and on machine probing
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on your machine tools including oil checks and where appropriate (mainly on lathes), check pH of the coolant
  • Observe Health & Safety policy
  • Liaise effectively with other members of the department and the company
