Job Description

School Cleaner - Full-time (various positions)The RoleThis position covers a wide range of duties and skills, some of which are listed below. The applicant should be able to work unsupervised and plan work in terms of time and materials, in order to maximise efficiency. The cleaner should ensure that good Health& Safety practices are followed at all times and should be discreet, with initiative and able to get on well with the other members of staff.The role reports into the Cleaning Supervisor.ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities will vary for each building, but the following is a list of the core responsibilities:

  • General cleaning duties to include dusting, sweeping, hoovering, disinfecting, mopping and polishing
  • Replenishing soap and towel dispensers when required
  • To clean and tidy their designated area to a high standard, observing good practice and maintaining high hygiene standard
  • To check waiting rooms and toilets on all floors on a regular basis but at least twice in the morning
  • Clean and disinfect staff kitchen and tea point areas as directed by the cleaning supervisor
  • Check and clean off any fingerprints on glass panels of doors
  • Throughout the day clean and disinfect touch point surfaces. Doors, desk surfaces and railings etc.
  • Ensure marble work tops in WCs are free from water and lime scale marks, check and replenish supplies and clean around all surface areas
  • When the opportunity arises (not during lesson time) check classrooms and corridors
  • To follow Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices, appropriate to the task in hand
  • To report damage or breakages to the Cleaning Supervisor
  • To maintain a professional relationship with pupils at all times, observing good practice under the schools Child Protection Policy
  • To cover for colleagues who may be absent
  • To carry out any other reasonable task as directed by the cleaning supervisor
    • Key Attributes
  • The Cleaner should possess the following qualities:
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Have previous cleaning experience
  • Be able to work unsupervised
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be flexible, adaptable and thorough
  • Be prepared to undertake additional training
    • Hours of Work & SalaryWe have 4 positions available.
  • Position 1 - This role is term time only, full time 40 hours per week working Monday to Friday 11 am to 7 pm.
  • Position 2 - This role is term time only, full time 40 hours per week working Monday to Friday 6 am to 2 pm.
  • Position 3 - This role is term time only, full time 40 hours per week working Monday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm.
  • Position 4 - This is an all year round role, full time 40 hours per week working Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
  • The above all require working a shift every other Saturday during term time. The salary will be up to £9.40 per hour.
