Job Description

Role OverviewThe Compliance Manager is responsible for AML checks and queries, ad-hoc projects and second checking that all legal requirements have been completed and all relevant processes have been followed before a tenancy commences or renews.This role will be situated at our Sevenoaks office with the benefit of Hybrid working.Key Responsibilities

  • Team: Work as part of the lettings compliance team towards the goal of ensuring all tenancies are compliant before they go ahead. Share trends and case studies of common errors found, support others in the team where relevant and be flexibleto assist with additional audits where necessary.
  • AML: Manage AML checks, conduct enhanced due diligence checks, risk assessment and escalation write-ups. Conduct screening against sanctions and global watchlists, and perform PEP (Politically Exposed Person), and adverse media checks onthem. Prepare reports of the checks and findings.
  • Compliance checks: carry out and take full responsibility for diligent and thorough checks that all legal requirements/processes have been followed before signing off a tenancy to begin. Sign off checks completed by junior team members.
  • New process implementation: identify processes that need adapting or new processes that need implementing and/or streamlining processes to ensure efficiency.
  • Reporting: weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting of all checks you have completed and of issues found. Organise and implement follow up with repeat offenders to reduce the number of errors.
  • Systems: Improve the quality of data on our systemsReapit, and RADAR. Identify system development requirements and communicate these to the Compliance Director. Handle the implementation of ID verification system and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Training: Ensure any compliance error trends are communicated to the Compliance Director to include in relevant training. Carry out monthly AML training.
  • Communication: attend team meetings and summarise previous months activities and highlight any concerns. Follow the communications plan to keep in regular contact with other departments and discuss improvements that could be made.

  • 3-5 years + experience working in the lettings industry
  • Good working knowledge of Reapit and RADAR
  • Good IT skills
  • Good understanding of finance

Qualifications:
  • ARLA Propertymark Technical Award as a minimum
