Job Description

Senior Shift EngineerDescription of role:An energetic and experienced individual is required to join the team to perform breakdown, trouble shooting and maintenance tasks on a wide range of equipment within a clean-room and laboratory environment in a methodical and conscientious manner.Reporting to the Equipment Manager you will be expected to support routine maintenance tasks carried out by the technicians and be constantly looking for improvements to processes and procedures supporting production requirements in a team environment.You will maintain a tool tracking system, develop and analyse reports for equipment utilisation and stock control for all equipment.You will coordinate and assist tool owners, equipment vendors and OEM suppliers with installations, commissioning, servicing and upgrades on a wide range of equipment, supporting ancillaries and facilities supplies.You may be required to work on a day or shift system as required by business needs with some on-call periods as required.A safety conscious approach is required to perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all environmental, health, safety and security requirements.Key Tasks

  • Coordinate and perform maintenance activities (e.g. consumable replacements, hardware changes, module strip down, cleaning and rebuilds).
  • Manage and investigate equipment faults and breakdowns within the team or with vendor support.
  • Monitor and control parts and consumables related to tool activities.
  • Maintain and develop records and any documentation in relation to tool activities.
  • Actively introduce, encourage and develop continuous improvement programmes.
  • Qualifications and Training
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Degree level preferred but not essential if experienced in an engineering role with the following:-
    1. BTEC HNC, HND or City & Guilds equivalent in an engineering discipline.
    2. Completion of a recognised apprenticeship program or time Served in an engineering Discipline.
  • Experienced with Microsoft office packages.
  • Semiconductor OEM equipment manufacturer training would be beneficial.
  • Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working under pressure in a mass production environment.
  • Previous experience of semi-conductor manufacturing equipment would be an advantage.
  • Extensive and safe use of hand tools and test equipment.
  • Strong ability to systematically fault-finding on complex equipment.
  • Working as part of a team and to work alone using own initiative.
  • Dealing with external vendors, contractors and suppliers.
  • Experience with hazardous chemical and toxic gas systems
  • Experience working on HV and LV systems
  • Experience of mechatronic and robotic systems
  • Experience of PLC controlled systems
  • Experience of Windows and Linux based operating systems.
