Our responsibilities include: • Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment • Provide utilities services • Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering) • Provide a safe place to train • Allocate Service Families Accommodation • Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair • Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning • Act as steward of the Defence estate • Provide the unarmed guarding service We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions, and we work across the world; in Germany, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, Norway, Poland, Kenya, Belize, Nepal and Oman. You can view our YouTube video to see more about our workJob descriptionThe ChallengeAs a DIO Embedded Software Engineer in SSG you will work on software and hardware solutions that solve real, and often unique, technical problems in the realm of electronic security systems . Security Services Group (SSG) plays a vital role in protecting some of the UK’s most important and sensitive sites. SSG employs around 200 highly skilled staff responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of security systems across the MOD estate (including AWE, DSTL and the Clyde), other government departments (including FCO, No10, Cabinet Office, Royal Palaces and the Parliamentary estate) and other sensitive sites across the UK and overseas. At SSG you’ll see how your work can really make a difference. SSG will invest in your career development through mentoring and on-the-job training, formal technical training and support to professional accreditation.ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities• Coding in C language on ARM and PIC microcontrollers using IAR and MPLAB X integrated development environments with an innovative approach to solving new and existing issues. • Design and implement software to meet customer and internal requirements, defining interfaces to other software services. • Contribute to the efficient running and improvement of the Agile development team, fully engaging in stand-up meetings and supporting the development team leader, technical lead and the rest of the development team. • Ensure that your code and designs are properly documented, verified and written in accordance with the SSG code standard. • Ensure you remain up to date with current methodologies, technology and devices, selecting the best in new technologies for your product. • Be responsible for the quality of your work and work in accordance with procedures, policies and responsibilities common across SSG.QualificationsBTEC National Certificate/Diploma or higher in a relevant subject such as computer science.BehavioursWell assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:
