Job Description

Exciting opportunity focused on innovation, product development and regulatory matters, with lots of input into technical support and product stewardship. We are seeking a technically focused individual; a technical manager, technical officer, development agronomist, or research manager looking for a new challenge. Candidates are likely to have a degree in agriculture or horticulture or plant science or environmental science, and ideally experience in a technical department or development team or crop trials teamor in a research setting. This is a rare opportunity to join a successful and well-known Horticulture, plant protection and consumer goods company, a market leader across UK and Europe, with a wide ranging portfolio including plant protection products, fertilisers,biologicals, plant health, adjuvants, and soil treatments.The main duties of the role will revolve around:

Product development including product pipeline, NPD, formulation and regulatory requirements.
Lead innovation with a keen eye value add and new and emerging product ideas.
Product stewardship
Education of colleagues and external clients on products and technical matters.
Collaborate with commercial colleagues to develop opportunities, and review customer trends and ensure sustainable future.
Project work - build on current products and benchmark against competitors and bring forward further biologicals and "green" alternatives.
providing a wide range of technical support to colleagues and customers.
providing technical support to the business including the marketing and quality teams

Candidate requirements:

Degree or similar qualification in agriculture, horticulture, biology, environmental science or plant science.
Previous experience in technically focused role within agriculture, horticulture, agrochemicals, fertiliser, fine chemicals, biocides or similar.
Experience in innovation or product development or regulatory matters - preferred
Strong commercial awareness
Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise a varied work load
Able to work under pressure, especially at times of peak demand
Good presentation skills
Computer literate
Driving licence
Willingness to travel within UK and sometimes overseas to shows, conferences, product launches and suppliers.
