Job titleSales Team LeaderMain purpose of the role To support the Sales Manager to deliver departmental targets as agreed with the Directors in the areas of existing business retention (renewals, adjustments, cancellations), cross selling, upselling, customer satisfaction, and compliance To lead, develop and support the individual members of your team To hit income targets To sell compliantly To report on sales performance to the Sales ManagerKey responsibilities and deliverables Departmental Performance Understand and deliver departmental sales targets with Sales Manager covering existing business retention (renewals, adjustments, cancellations), cross-selling, upselling, customer satisfaction and compliance Assist in managing product/service mix, pricing and margins according to agreed aims Assist the Sales Manager to identify sales, satisfaction and compliance trends and in putting appropriate 90-day plans in place to close any gaps in performance Assist the Sales Manager or Directors in areas of business development needed to support the long term health of the department Respond appropriately to customer complaints, identifying the root cause and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence Prepare, measure and report against your personal objectives in your monthly 121s with the Sales Manager Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders as required to fulfil your role e.g. internal (senior managers, marketing, business development, finance, admin) and external (suppliers, partners) Assist the Sales Manager to effectively manage your department resources in line with budgets (people, financial) Identify and report on market and competitor activity and intelligence Report on all measures of performance and KPIs effectively and take corrective actions in conjunction with the Sales manager Ensure all processes are followed correctly and effectively and improved where appropriate Identify and report on market and competitor activity and intelligence Take responsibility for departmental resources and the people plan in the sales teamTeam management and effectiveness Ensure each member of your team knows exactly what is expected of them (targets and behaviour) Take ownership of ensuring the team are fully multiskilled, competent and confident. Agree personal objectives with team members carrying out additional responsibilities/project work Ensure the compliance auditing of advisor calls is carried out to agreed standards Coach members of your team to ensure achievement of individual and team targets to agreed standards Assist Sales Manager in the performance management of your team, identifying any skills and motivation gaps and agreeing plans to address these using Personal Development Plans (all staff) or Personal Improvement Plans (under performing staff) as appropriate Assist the Sales Manager in an agreed share of monthly 121s with every team member, quarterly formal performance reviews and annual appraisals Participate in quarterly levelling of team members with the Sales Manager and Directors for bonus/recognition Ensure all members of your team adhere to the relevant policies in the health and safety handbook Develop and share best practice amongst team members, delivering departmental training as and when requiredLeadership and personal excellence Identify your strengths and weaknesses and take responsibility for your personal development plan and training, reviewing this in your monthly 121 with your line manager (Sales Manager) Always be learning and strive to achieve mastery of the Sales Team leader role Adhere to the relevant policies in the health and safety handbookOther responsibilitiesOther duties and responsibilities as may be set by the Sales ManagerBehaviours
