Job Description

Senior Software Developer - SalfordSalary: CompetitiveThe Company:My client is a team of highly experienced technology development experts, united in their mission to keep the country safe. Through their unique DNA, they work collaboratively with UK Agencies, National Security Establishments, the Law Enforcement Sectorand Defence Intelligence Organisations to extend their efficacy through the innovative use of technology. Taking a collaborative approach they optimise their clients existing systems and add value quickly, while at the same time minimising operational risk.Some of their recent projects include:

  • Improving systems integration performance, using Apache Ni-Fi, by balancing scaling and flow improvements through chunking
  • Implementing AWS Security Control Policies to manage global access privileges
  • Validating and Converting data into a common data format using Avro Schemas and JOLT
  • Designing a proxy in-front of their Kubernetes cluster egress to whitelist traffic and mitigate any security risks
  • Implementing Access/Role Based Access Control in Elastic Search
  • Writing React UI using an ATDD approach with Cypress
  • Improving docker-compose config and REAMDE instructions to improve DX
  • Writing CI/CD pipelines
  • Enhancing a rules engine using TDD in Java
The Role:My client is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join their team, please note you must be eligible for SC Clearance. This is a full time role (37.5hrs per week) however you have flexibility over when you give that time, with the office openMonday-Friday, between 7:30 and 18:30you can also choose to split your time between the office and home.Role Responsibilities: Working within a small team (usually no larger than 7 people) you will be responsible for:
  • Designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining software solutions
  • Full stack development using Front End technologies, such as React, integrating AWS services and open source tooling, using a variety of different databases (e.g. MongoDb or ElasticSearch) and developing in Java or Python
  • Working with their DevOps specialists to help manage and maintain their own infrastructure (using Kubernetes)
  • Building and adding to automated delivery pipelines (using GitLab)
  • Taking accountability for quality as a team, including pair programming and participating in code reviews
  • Youll develop new components, youll fix bugs, youll learn new ways of doing things and share your knowledge to help others on the team.
  • Youll have the freedom and autonomy to do your best work, with plenty of support along the way.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
  • You must have experience developing software solutions.
  • You must have experience of full stack development using Front End technologies, such as React, integrating AWS services and open source tooling, using a variety of different databases (e.g. MongoDb and ElasticSearch) and developing in Java and Python
  • You should understand what good code looks like (front end or back end)
  • You should have a good understanding of how best to deploy software
  • You should know how to operate systems on top of elastic infrastructure
  • You should be able to spot and correct issues with code
  • Knowledge of developing on the cloud is preferred. Solid fundamentals with software development, systems integration and problem solving
  • You should be able to work closely with others in a small team
