Job Description

Our client is looking for a solicitor or legal executive to add to their team in Manchester. The full-time Residential Conveyancing Paralegal role comes with a favourable salary and benefits.The firms clients include those who have lost capacity following a birth injury or accident and have received damages following a PI or clinical negligence claim and clients living with dementia and other illnesses. The role can be undertaken partly orwholly remotely (probably 2-3 days a week in the office to start with, dropping to 1-2 days as needed).If you were already in this Residential Conveyancing Paralegal role, here are some of the areas you would have been working in this week:

  • Managing a caseload of Property and Affairs files, supported by Case Workers who manage the day-to-day financial work and trainee solicitors/paralegals
  • Being supervised by one of the 3 specialist COP Directors in the team
  • Assisting senior team members with complex property and affairs files.
The successful candidate should have experience as a Court of Protection fee earner, either in a specialist team or a part of a mixed Private Client/Court of Protection caseload. You will also need the following:
  • 2+ years’ experience in Court of Protection/Property and Affairs, which can be pre- or post-qualification
  • Experience of contested Court of Protection matters, preparing instructions to counsel, court bundles, etc
  • Experience advising families regarding LPAs and lay deputyship applications
  • Experience investigating financial abuse
  • Knowledge of different care funding options including local authority and NHS funding.
