Job Description

Part-Time Finance Assistant - Cardiff £25,000 - £28,000 Pro Rata (DOE) A really exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cardiff area for an experienced part-time Finance Assistant. Reporting directly into the Managing Director on a day to day basis you will be required to deal with a variety of tasks in order to ensure the smoothrunning of the finance department.My client is a well-established and successful firm and this role will be a key hire within the organisation. They are looking for a candidate that is happy to work independently and deal with all the financial transactions for the organisation and the externalAccountant. In this role, the successful candidate will be the sole person on site for all finance operations.The successful candidate will play a significant role in covering the day to day finance tasks, you will play an integral part in liaising with the senior management team and MD in order to provide them with solid financial information.The suitable candidate will ideally be AAT qualified or nearing completion of the qualification, coupled with a strong transactional knowledge and background. My client will also consider applications from candidates that are Qualified by Experience, havingworked within a similar role previously.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining all of the purchase and sales ledger functions
  • Assisting with the monthly management accounts and posting of monthly journals in preparation for the external accountant
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Complete petty cash and bank reconciliations
  • Raising sales invoices, processing supplier invoices
  • Provide a weekly cashflow and sales report to the MD
  • Credit control, chasing out-standing payments
  • Reconcile company credit card expenses
  • Compile year end accounts information to passed on to the accountants
  • Monthly cashflows
  • Attend client meetings and report on financial matters
  • Ad hoc projects as and when required by the MD
Person Specification:
  • Experienced IT user, having worked with Xero or Sage 50 Accounts previously
  • Enjoy working independently and as a part of a close-knit team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ideally you will be AAT qualified or possess a strong technical background having worked within a similar role previously
  • Prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved in a variety of tasks
The ideal candidate must possess strong Excel skills and be committed and dedicated to getting the job done. The role is working in a busy office environment therefore you must be able to prioritise your workload and ensure a high level of accuracy at alltimes. The suitable candidate will be pro-active in approach, enthusiastic and willing to support and help the team achieve their goals.This organisation offers a friendly, professional working environment and the opportunity for a hands-on role. The role will be office based, working 27 hours per week, howeverafter passing a successful probation period, occasional homeworking will be on offer.
