Job Description

Trainee Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing Planned WorksBased in SouthwarkPerm - £25-£27k depending on experienceHere at Howells we are working with a leading Social Housing Contractor to recruit 3 x Trainee Quantity Surveyors to join their team in Southwark. You will be working on Planned Works schemes including kitchen and bathroom renewals and external refurbishment works.This is a full time, permanent role, with your time to be split between the office and on site.As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Commercial team in delivering all aspects of the commercial, financial and contractual elements of designated projects using a schedule of rates.Key duties as a Trainee QS:

  • To carry out all administrative duties relating to the commercial function within the business
  • Administering and tracking financial process and procedures to ensure that all necessary documentation is in place to minimise the risk to the business
  • Daily pricing of SORs
  • Tracking and valuing Variations
  • About You
  • Ideally, we are looking for somebody who has a QS/Construction related qualification with some relevant experience, however all candidates with the right attitude and transferrable skills who are keen on a career as a QS will be considered
  • Thorough and meticulous with an eye for detail
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain a flexible attitude to work task and workload - this is key due to weekly deadlines that must be met
  • Ability to work on own initiative
