Job Description

Dyslexia Higher level teaching assistant - Secondary school in SouthwarkWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Dyslexia Higher level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a Secondary School (age 11 - 16) in the Southwark, who specialise in supporting students with needs with Dyslexia.The position will involve providing classroom support to students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, you will also be delivering various sessions throughout the week, this will be a full-time, long-term position starting immediately.Location: Southwark Contract Type: Long TermStart Date: ImmediateDuration: 5 days a weekThe successful applicants will have:

  • Previous experience working with Dyslexia
  • Previous experience managing challenging behaviour
  • Ideally experience working with children and/or young people
  • Valid and enhanced child or child and adult DBS check
The role will consist of:
  • Offering support to the class teacher
  • Deliver various sessions throughout the week
  • Provide support for individuals and groups of pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans
  • Building good student - teacher rapport
