Job Description

Ref:261Role: Service Development ManagerSalary: £45,476 per annumLocation: Rotherham and Pontefract (with some travel required)Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pmThe role:

  • Lead on the development and expansion of the organisations services and with other senior members of staff, taking into account best practice and the changing needs of the client group.
  • Develop service models, policy, and practice to underpin new areas of delivery to ensure services achieve positive outcomes for the client group.
  • To oversee the management of the Centre, working with the Centre Coordinator to develop the service offering both within the Centre and the community.
  • To develop, manage and work within budgets.
  • Work with the Social Work Development Manager, senior social worker team and wider staff to identify gaps in provision and potential to broaden the service offer for the client base.
  • Support organisational change and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Develop proposals for funding of new initiatives alongside the Chief Executive.
  • To keep abreast of developments in policy and practice in the social care and use this to inform new service development and funding opportunities.
  • Develop good working relationships with partner agencies to identify areas of joint working in the development of new services and initiatives.
  • Represent the organisation at events and meetings as required.
  • As part of the wider management team, to participate in organisational development, planning and monitoring.
  • Participate in personal development opportunities and develop such opportunities for team members to facilitate a learning and development culture in the organisation
  • To work within a flexible framework in order to meet the demands of the service which may include outside the usual 9-5 hours and considerable travel.
  • To undertake any other duties as requested and reasonable to the post
Essential:
  • Considerable experience of managing and developing social care services, ideally with olderpeople and / or disability.
  • Experience of managing people, services and budgets at a senior level.
  • Experience of implementing new systems and processes and facilitating change.
  • Demonstrable experiencing of service development, design and implementation in the field ofsocial care.
  • Experience of developing and updating policies in line with legislative changes and good practice.
  • Educated to degree level, ideally in social work, health or related field.
  • Knowledge of good practice, particularly in relation to older people, mental health and disability
  • Ability to work independently and as a team and encouraging this in others.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of and ability to use IT systems
  • Able to work supportively and collaboratively and to promote this in others
  • Ability to be self-motivated, with good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative with a practical, hands on approach to work
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Flexibility to travel across a wide geographic area with occasional overnight stays
