Job Description

Our client is a learning Trust that has a dynamic, positive, and supportive culture for staff and students within their academies. The head office is based in Normanton where it houses the HR team that provides trust wide support, the team are driven, focusedand committed to providing the highest standards of service. The trust has a great reputation for staff career progression and development and this role is vacant due to internal progression.The role is to provide HR generalist support to 110 employees and to deliver this role the successful HR officer is required to be on site at a school in Rotherham 3 days per week and the other 2 days in Normanton. It is a 42 week working year and the hoursare Monday to Thursday 8am until 4pm and Friday 8am until 3.30pm. The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail, excellent communication skills and have previous experience of delivering a complex administrative role.Main duties include:

  • Lead on the recruitment of staff for the academy from advert to offer and onboarding.
  • Administer the new starter process.
  • Drawing up contracts of employment for all new staff.
  • Maintain accurate employee records on the electronic HR system including employment history and absence etc and produce reports from the system and as when required.
  • Liaising with payroll for new starters, sickness etc.
  • Manage flexible working requests.
  • Provide HR support to line managers.
  • Monitoring and reporting of staff absence with daily recording of staff absences and formal monthly absence data reporting.
  • Supporting absent staff, conducting welfare checks, arranging, and holding staff absence meetings and making occupational health referrals where appropriate
  • Work with the Headteacher to ensure a successful induction process for all new staff.
  • Managing 2,3- and 6-month reviews for staff and probation periods and advising managers as appropriate.
  • Effectively advise on and manage a range of employee relations cases and HR processes through to completion; including investigations, grievances, disciplinary matters, change management, sickness absence management etc.
  • Administer the appraisal process for staff and distributing all relevant paperwork.
  • Providing advice and guidance to managers on HR best practice and legislation.
  • Whilst HR experience is preferable it isn’t essential.
