Job Description

Configuration Engineer (Naval Marine)SF 34752Location: Rosyth, Fife Competitive Salary & BenefitsAbout the RoleHere at Babcock International Group in Rosyth, we are currently looking for a Configuration Engineer to join us. We aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.As a Configuration Engineer, youll work to support the development and control of the T31 Wholeship Configuration Management processes and documentation, ensuring effective control processes are put into place to maintain Configuration Management throughout the full project lifecycle phases, and provide guidance across all T31 departments on the Configuration Management Processes.Youll review and recommend changes to the Configuration Management Plan; provide technical input to the development of IT solutions and software interfaces; recommend system enhancements and upgrades for performance efficiency; analyse and resolve system defects and problems and assess implications of changes pre and post design freeze. Youll also work with other T31 teams such as ILS, Quality, Production and Supply Chain to ensure the new CM Processes will be supported by all T31 software applications and processes.What do I need to do the roleYoull hold a minimum of HND/ HNC in a relevant engineering discipline and typically hold Membership of, or be capable of registration within the Engineering Council at CEng level. Working knowledge of Configuration Management and Data Management (CM/DM) tools and processes and their application in a complex engineering environment is also essential for this role.We would also like you to have the following:-

  • Working knowledge of PDM/PLM data environments
  • Experience of Configuration Control and Change Management within Defence Programs
  • Knowledge of DEF STAN 05-057, DEF STAN 02-047 and JSP 945
  • Experience of performing FCA & PCA audits
  • Lastly, youll be an experienced Engineer used to working with a high level of developed knowledge on a range of engineering problems involving high levels of complexity and uncertainty. Youll have strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation, including guiding less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.What else do I need to knowApplicants must hold or be prepared to undergo security clearance checks before taking up this post.
