Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join us as an apprentice to be trained as a skilled mechanical technician. The role will require the individual to participate in various areas of practical and theoretical engineering training; combined with company specific training given in the workplace. This will include completion of a Level 3 technical certificate, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.Reports toSupervisor (foreperson) Role DescriptionTo engage in the process of learning and to undertake installation / maintenance activities for the project as directed.ResponsibilitiesThe Apprentice Technician will:

  • Report to the Cavendish Nuclear Supervisor for all matters relating to task quality and safety. No un-supervised work should be carried out.
  • Within their SQEP capability, undertake all work as instructed by the site supervisor, in accordance with the requirements of the task documentation, (i.e. Method Statement, Implementation Plan, Risk Assessments etc) with due care to minimise the potential for disturbance to site plant and equipment.
  • Adopt at all times the S*T*A*R*T principle. Stop, Think, Act, Review and Tell whilst engaged on all types of works on site.
  • Take reasonable care of the Health and Safety of themselves and those around them.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Cavendish Nuclear Management System and Local Site Controls.
  • Comply with any other applicable Safety documents identified by theSupervisor or client.
  • Refrain from defeating or interfering with, anything provided in the interests of Health and Safety (PPE, fire extinguishers etc)
  • Use any Plant and Equipment correctly, and in accordance with training and instruction provided.
  • Inform the Supervisor of any situation considered to represent a serious or imminent danger.
  • Report to the Supervisor any shortcomings in protection arrangements for Health andSafety.
  • These duties are project specific and in addition to those described in the Company and project manuals and procedures. They shall ensure that they are familiar with these documents, and any legislation to which they refer.
  • The services of the site/facility/establishment e.g. quality, safety, administration etc. will be available of which full use should be made. Academic QualificationsA minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above including English, Science, and Maths at Grade 5 (B) or above.
