* Information Governance Officer* £24.5K-£28KInformation Governance Officer is sought for an established solicitors based in Rochdale.This role is pivotal in assisting the legal team on all data protection and information governance matters including drafting emails and letters, reviewing and redacting documents, compliance and some client-facing advisory support.The Information Governance Officer will have a caseload of their own and provide support to senior lawyers in the firm on aspects of their work.The role will be to provide input and feedback which will support the directors in developing and shaping the firms data protection services and products.Day to day tasks:- To manage a caseload of data protection and Freedom of Information matters.- To provide support to clients who have reported a data breach, including communicating remedial steps, whether the breach has crossed the notification threshold to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and updating the clients data breach record.- To support clients with Subject Access Requests (SARs), including drafting acknowledgement letters, providing guidance to the client on how the request should be handled in line with statutory requirements and drafting the response letter.- To support clients with responding to Freedom of Information requests, including drafting acknowledgement letters, providing guidance as to how to respond and drafting the response letter.- To deliver the firms review and redaction service (reviewing documents to be disclosed under a SAR and removing any information which should not be disclosed).- To support data protection compliance work, including maintaining the clients compliance tracker tool, attending compliance meetings, taking minutes and communicating follow up actions with the client.- Supporting clients with carrying out data protection impact assessments.Skills and experience:- Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating a solid understanding of information governance principles and practices.- In-depth knowledge of data protection laws, records management, and compliance standards.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.- Ability to work independently and take ownership of information governance initiatives.
