Engineering Production Manager - Non-Food FMCG ProductsRochdale * Full-time, permanent.* Hours: 40 hours per week as required. * Salary negotiable dependent upon experience. We are now seeking to strengthen our clients Engineering Production Management Team due to continued growth. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head of Manufacturing to strengthen the engineering capability and help drive manufacturing improvement. The role will also include the responsibility for managing an engineering manufacturing location with various metal and plastic processes. Key responsibilities of the role:* To take charge of the engineering, maintenance and machinery/ tooling teams across all sites whilst managing one of our key engineering factories. * Managing site production of an engineering-based manufacturing facility utilising metal pressing, welding, robotic assembly, and injection moulding. * Working with the equipment design and maintenance teams to develop and implement improved automation and more productive ways of manufacture. * Specification of requirements and capex justification. * Driving the reduction in overall manufacturing costs. * Facilitating Kaizen and Lean events where possible * Ensuring all activities are in line with safety and quality guidelines * Supporting and developing the wider production/manufacturing engineering team * Reviewing tooling, jigs and fixtures to constantly improve performance and minimise waste, change over times, etc. * Lead Design for manufacture assessment and new product introduction * The commissioning or project management and installation of new plant and machinery. Person specification:* Ability to work under pressure, with excellent organisational skills. * Good project management skills and a team player. * Good people management skills. * Must be hands-on, spending time on the factory floor. * Excellent communicator at all levels both verbally and written. * IT literate. * Flexibility to travel between sites. * Ideally you will have experience within one or more of the following: metal fabrication, plastics moulding, packaging or textile manufacturing industries. * Demonstrate the desired attributes and ambition to be potential future leader/director of the business. * Reasonably financially literate to understand costs involved with the role and products. * A desire to improve continually, happy to lead on change and improve the culture of the business and to empower people within the business.Qualifications and experience:* An experienced individual will have held production and or engineering management positions in a similar organisation. * ideally qualified with a mechanical engineering degree or similar but equivalent experience will also be considered. * Full UK Driving licence.Acorn Recruitment acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
