Looking for an opportunity to work for a fantastic, well known company where you have genuine long term career prospects This hghly renowned company is looking for a manager to join their night shift as a Control Room Shift Manager at their modern site just outside Rochdale town centre. The role offers excellent benefits including 33 days holiday including bank holidays, staff discount, free parking and a pension scheme. This role will involve working nights on a permanent basis on a 4 on / 4 off basis. About the role:Working in a busy distribution centre you will be managing a team of Control Room Technicians and acting as the main Control Room contact for the on-shift management team. Duties will include: Overseeing and managing a small team to ensure the flow of stock items around an extensive network of automated conveyors linking mini load cranes, crossbelt sorters, shuttle systems, goods to person picking and rotapicking. Monitoring the flow of stock items around the automated conveyor belt system in the distribution centre Highlighting issues and directing suitable staff and maintenance teams to deal with issues and ensure stock flows freely Providing advice and guidance to the operational management team to maximise the efficiency of the operation Identifying opportunities and initiatives for continuous improvements in ways of working, quality, consistency, and effectiveness Developing staff in various areas via PDPs, reviews, appraisals and regular conversations to drive performance Carrying out performance and absence management processes to ensure underperformance of individuals and teams is managed Identifying appropriate reward and recognition opportunities to drive engagement within own team Liaising with management on the day shift to ensure hand over Essential Skills & ExperienceIdeally you will have experience in a similar management role in a control room within a warehouse, distribution or production site but this is not essential. Strong management experience in a logistics, warehouse or distribution organisation would also be considered for a candidate with excellent systems experience. Great general IT skills with the ability to become an expert in new systems are key. Experience of a WMS system is desirable but is not essential. Experience of manipulating data in Excel would be beneficial. You must be willing to commit to working a regular night shift.
