Job Description

The OpportunityWe’re hiring for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Data team. Having recently migrated our Data tech stack at Footasylum on to Azure Databricks and Power BI from SQL Server and SSRS, we have a large suite of reports which surface the data thatthe business needs to answer their key questions. We have a wide range of reports which support teams across Footasylum, ranging from Stores and Merch to Profit Protection and the Warehouse.Why FootasylumWe’ve been going through a digital transformation, changing how we deliver value to our business. A big part of this change is fostering a culture of being open and honest, collaborating, having fun and enabling psychological safety.The TeamThe data team is an enabling team and as such it is important to note that we are a key function for all other teams across the business. We consist of two teams – Business Intelligence Developers and Data Engineering – who work closely alongside each otherfrom end to end. We design solutions together and share best practice. Within the teams we recognise individual skillsets and encourage knowledge sharing sessions and self-development.About YouWe are looking for a driven individual who has a keen eye for detail and strives to ensure that they produce accurate information through visually appealing reporting. Ideally, you will be comfortable liaising with technical teams to understand how businessprocesses reflect in the data produced and are able to relay this back to senior stakeholders at executive level.What you will do:

  • Consolidate the Power BI service and remove duplicate information across reports.
  • Develop and maintain a reporting catalogue to ensure the business is aware of all available reporting.
  • Align on KPIs and definitions within the reporting that the team produces, and the rest of Footasylum.
  • Reduce CPU on large datasets and reports to improve user experience.
  • Ensure reports allow users to be confident in their findings and to make decisions based on data driven insights.
  • Provide training to all teams to ensure Power BI is utilised in the best way possible.
  • Automate remaining manual business reporting using data extracts and analysis cubes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Engineering team to develop end to end best practices.
  • Work proactively with product and business teams to identify important questions and help them answer these with data, delivering an insight service to the business through fit for purpose solutions.
  • Educate the rest of the business on the role the Data team plays, and how changes upstream impact reporting outputs.
  • Work with business areas to understand and educate them on the power of data and what support we can provide.
Skills you will need:
  • Excellent SQL skills.
  • Power BI experience is desirable, but Tableau or similar also relevant.
  • Experience with large datasets and tabular models.
  • A love for problem solving.
  • A drive to continuously improve existing processes.
  • Confidence in bringing ideas to the team and stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of data governance, data protection, and GDPR.
  • Great organisational skills and experience in Azure DevOps or JIRA desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to Exec level.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment alongside evolving the data tech stack and practices.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and how they can be used to solve modern business problems.
