Job Description

Job Title: Behaviour Support AssistantLocation: Rochdale, Greater Manchester, UKContract Type: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: Competitiveteach195. are supporting a school in Rochdale to recruit a dedicated and passionate Behaviour Support Assistant. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment across the school forstudents, promoting their social and emotional development.Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as first response for challenging behaviours seen in and around classrooms and respond in a calm manner and in accordance with the schools escalation and behaviour policies.
  2. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, implementing strategies outlined in behaviour plans.
  3. Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective behaviour management plans tailored to individual student needs.
  4. Monitor and record student behaviour, providing regular updates to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other relevant staff members.
  5. Implement proactive intervention strategies to address challenging behaviours, fostering a positive and respectful school environment.
  6. Assist in creating an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere where every student feels valued and has the opportunity to succeed.
  7. Stay informed about current best practices in behaviour support and participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  8. A commitment to safeguarding pupils and their families.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with children and young people.
  • Understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take initiative when required.
