Job Description

Macildowie are representing a prominent client in the Corporate Financial Services sector. Currently, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Part-Time Payroll Officer to join our clients team.Job Title: Payroll OfficerSalary Grade: Grade 5 - £26,000-£29,000 full-time equivalent18.5 hours per week. Wednesday to Friday.12 - 14 Month contract up until April 2025: with the potential to go permanent in the future.Reporting to: Payroll Manager - working in a team of X7As a Payroll Officer, your primary goal is to provide an effective and efficient payroll and pension service. Ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies, you will play a crucial role in processing payroll data, maintaining records, and managing variouspayrolls.You will be overseeing a monthly payroll - collectively overseeing the payroll of up to X1700 employees across the team of X7.Responsibilities:

  • Process accurate and timely payments for various payrolls.
  • Collate and validate payroll data for precise gross-to-net payments.
  • Maintain HR and payroll records ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage multiple deadlines for variable data throughout the pay cycle.
  • Process starters, leavers, and permanent changes promptly.
  • Maintain pension records in line with regulations, including Auto-enrolment.
  • Complete accurate pension/pay returns for providers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the payroll feeder system and process data extraction.
  • Manage accurate sickness absence records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Set and deliver priorities for prompt and accurate payroll changes.
  • Implement changes to employee records in line with HR notifications.
  • Implement changes to statutory and voluntary deductions.
  • Provide pay details to third parties as required.
  • Process mileage returns for main and Members payrolls.
  • Compile benefit in kind and expenses documentation/payrolling of benefits.
Person Specification:Knowledge:
  • Payroll procedures and deadlines.
  • Conditions of service.
  • Public Sector conditions of service.
  • Voluntary and statutory deductions.
  • Auto-enrolment and Real-Time Information.
  • Health and Safety issues related to the role.
  • Processes and procedures for statutory payments and deductions.
  • End-of-year requirements.
Experience:
  • Previous experience in payroll administration.
  • Knowledge of conditions of service.
  • Public Sector payroll and pension scheme experience - Desired not essential
  • Calculations of pay, including statutory and occupational payments.
  • Investigation and timely response to inquiries.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building experience.
  • Microsoft Office and payroll software systems.
  • Methodical work approach and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
