Job Description

Were on the lookout for a Project Accountant to join our esteemed engineering client based in Renfrewshire. This is a permanent role with a 37.5-hour workweek and an early finish on Fridays, offering a hybrid work arrangement with 2 days of remotework. In this position, youll collaborate closely with Project Teams, ensuring compliance with cost processes and delivering accurate forecasted project revenue.Key Responsibilities:

Report on actual and forecast financial performance.
Focus on actual and forecast costs to drive continuous improvement.
Implement consistent application of Cost Management best practices across all projects.
Identify cost variances, risk areas, and propose mitigations to project managers.
Assist in delivering project and customer requirements in a cost-effective manner.
Prepare project baseline budgets and collaborate on EAC reforecasts with the Project Team.
Identify and mitigate project slippage, escalating issues to management.
Provide forecasted project revenue and margin information for quarterly forecasts and the annual budget process.
Conduct cost variance analysis, sensitivity analysis, and identify opportunities, risks, and mitigations for project managers.
Ensure correct allocation of costs to cost accounts/work orders and review coding of requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and variations.
Prepare regular internal and external project reports for management and customers.
Collaborate on the preparation of variation order requests/claims, providing relevant follow-up, and assisting the Project Manager in evaluating changes.
Facilitate and participate in lessons learned sessions on project delivery, providing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience Required:

ICAS/ACCA/CIMA Qualification preferred.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Engineering advantageous.
Proven track record in a similar role (e.g., Lead Project Cost Engineer, Project Accountant) and industry (e.g., Oil & Gas, engineering, or manufacturing).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Glovia, SAP, Oracle).
