Job Description

David Reekie and Sons Ltd is a family-owned company operating in a fast-moving environment offering machining services to all sectors of industry from nuclear to MOD. The Production Controller role will be involved from a job arriving into the machine shopthrough to the finished product going back out of the door.Ensuring this is done to a high standard, with in the allocated time frame and ensuring efficiency through-out the production process.The role will work across all departments of manufacturing, from a concept through to a finished product. Having the ability to deal with internal and external customers demands within a fast-moving environment, will require you to work well under pressureand enjoy the challenge.As the Production Controller you will deal and liaise with all levels of personnel within the company to achieve the required goals. You will be hands on from day one, supported and supervised.There will be additional training where required and support given within the department.Key Tasks:

  • Develop our current scheduling system into a working programme that can be used with confidence (Progress Plus / Berkley Myles)
  • Inputting customer orders, ordering materials and suitable tooling on a day-to-day basis
  • Liaising with customers and building strong working relationships and good rapport
  • Being a key role in the machine shops production team working with the Production Engineers
  • Supplying up to date and accurate reports on production flow to the team
  • Scheduling work through the shop, maximising the machines capacity to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Improving the real time workload and capacity
  • Undertake additional training where required to meet the needs of the role
  • Ensuring that all productions paperwork is issued, completed, and recorded in line with the company standards
Key Skills & Experience:The ideal candidate will have the following:Essential:
  • HND/Apprenticeship in IT or Process Management or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of IT, including Excel, Word and CadCam
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident in dealing with internal & external customers
  • Have a flexible mindset. Able to adapt to short notice production changes
  • Be part of the team and work with others as well as working on your own projects
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, be methodical, accurate and organised
  • The ability to understand engineering and manufacturing drawings, including dimensional and geometric tolerances
Desirable:
  • Experience of working in an engineering/machine shop environment
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems (Scheduling etc)
  • Offline programming of CNC machining
Working Hours: Normal working week is 38hrs Monday-Friday. Flexible working arrangements are availableHoliday: 33 days a year, including 8 public holidaysBenefits:
