Job Description

Management AccountantReporting to the UK Group Financial ControllerBased: Teesside (Wilton International) with infrequent national travelSalary: Negotiable -Whilst all salaries are graded, Sembcorp are keen to attract, retain and develop the highest calibre of colleague.Type: Full time - PermanentHours: Monday - Friday 09:00am - 17:00pmPosition Overview: As the Management Accountant you will report to the UK Group Financial Contoller and assume responsibility for performing the Companys end-to-end financial accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations, and accurate monthly reporting. The role willalso be responsible for managing an assistant accountant and the successful candidate must be a self-starter, with financial analysis, reconciliation and management accounting experience and a desire to improve current processes and procedures.You will be expected to demonstrate the appropriate behaviours and commitment towards health and safety to ensure we maintain our first-class safety culture.Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the accurate and timely production and reporting of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reporting in line with Group requirements. This includes monthly Cognos reporting to Group, local monthly reporting to theSenior Leadership Committee and annual statutory reporting requirements.
  • Responsibility for managing the Companys balance sheet and ensuring all accounts are fully reconciled and analysed on a monthly basis.
  • Working with other teams in finance and the business to resolve issues and supporting the overall business by providing the necessary information to help increase performance and monitor costs.
  • Provide financial information and analysis as required both to various departments within the business as well as group reporting
  • Review and approval of journals and balance sheet reconciliation prepared by the accounts assistants.
  • Supporting the financial planning and budget process.
  • Key point of contact in the audit process, overseeing the production of statutory accounts.
  • Production of annual statutory financial statements and review of annual tax returns.
  • Review and improve current procedures and processes in place to ensure the finance-operations are ran efficiently.
  • Management and development of the team, identifying training needs and development/ succession plans.
Requirements:
  • ICAEW/ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS qualification(s) are required
  • Experience in a management accountant role within a fast moving, multi-sited businesses working to tight reporting deadlines is a must
  • Experience gained from one of the Big 4 Accountancy firms or a mid-tier professional accountancy practice is essential
  • An advanced level of competency with Excel is essential
  • Prior experience of international financial reporting and expert knowledge of IFRS standards is a must
  • Prior experience of SAP is beneficial
  • Full driving licence, as operational sites are located throughout Great Britain
  • Right to work in the UK is essential
The Management Account will need to be comfortable in working with non-financial staff and confident in delivering firm messages on spend control requirements as well as able to work under own initiative to work through problems as they arise and proposesolutions.Benefits:
