Job Description

Learning & Development Officer Redcar£29,980 - £37,331 depending on skills (pro-rata)Part-time, 24 hours per weekOur client is a subsidiary of one of Mexico’s largest corporations and a global producer in 29 countries with annual sales in excess of $19 billion. Based at their 64-acre manufacturing facility at Wilton in Teesside, they produce in excess of 360,000 tonnes of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) resin chips every year.They are now looking for a part-time Learning & Development Officer to join the HR Team. The position supports the HR Manager in providing a professional, comprehensive and accurate learning and development service for the business at Wilton.The selected candidate will take responsibility for managing the learning and development needs of the business. The main tasks will include:

  • Managing the compliance training programme for the business as well as identifying individual and departmental training and development needs through Training Needs Analysis and consultation with department managers.
  • Utilise a combination of training delivery methods to drive the best engagement and outcome, including face-to-face, e-learning, coaching and mentoring.
  • Identifying training needs for new hires and support with effective onboarding and induction of new starters to help improve retention and engagement.
  • Working with internal and external training providers to develop, design and coordinate appropriate training programmes.
  • Managing the apprenticeship programme for all departments and being an active member of the local/regional apprenticeship network group.
  • Managing training spend within the annual training budget.
  • Ensuring there is an effective means of monitoring and evaluating training to enable continuous improvement of the learning and development provision.
  • Deputising for the HR Officer from time to time.
  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Experience in a training and development role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team, sharing ideas and information across teams, for business improvement
  • Credible and confident communication skills
  • Good organisational and planning skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good coaching, facilitation and listening skills
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks at one time
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent I.T. skills
  • The following would be a distinct advantage:
  • A relevant CIPD qualification or equivalent
  • An understanding and experience of managing of an Apprenticeship programme within a business
