About Our Young PersonASEND are looking for a tutor to support an 13 year old boy with Autism in a secondary school in Reading. He enjoys puzzles, mechanics, physical activities, riding his bicycle and going to the park. He has an interest for cooking and especially for bakingcakes! He will need a tutor who can help him with communicating his needs, helping raise his self-esteem, close his learning gaps in a creative way and who might enjoy the Great British Bake-Off. He would benefit from a tutor who can support him to engagein a range of activities. This is a hugely interesting and rewarding opportunity to really make a difference to his life, maintain his levels of learning and be ready to access school once again. If this sounds like the right role for you then please apply. What ASEND Tuition IsWe are looking for inspirational tutors in London to support children and young people with SEND. Many children with SEND have been disengaged with their learning. We support pupils that have struggled to stay in the classroom, who feel too anxious to goto school or whose needs arent sufficiently supported at school. We tutor children face to face in a range of settings including homes, schools, and community centres. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with childrenin a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support a child at home and re-engage them in their learning, continue their educational development and return to school. ASEND tuition is replacing school for these young people and is normally part-time,taking place during school hours, five days a week. Our pupils have a range of individual interests, needs and abilities, and we work very hard to match the tutor with the child who can most benefit from their skills and expertise. We welcome people with broad ranges of backgrounds and knowledge to be ableto meet the very diverse needs of our young people. Some of our tutors specialise in SEN with a focus on certain academic subjects or learning needs and others work with specific behaviours related to SEN. Others have a background on childhood development. Some of our pupils who have deep-seated anxiety or mental health issues linked to their special needs work very well with tutors that are qualified Play, Art, Drama, Performance, Music, or Dance and Movement therapists. The successful candidates will:

  • have some experience with SEN; such as Speech and Language needs, Attachment Difficulties, Selective Mutism, Autism, ADHD, or Social Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • be passionate about helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • be able to build a rapport and strong relationship with children and their families
  • ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
  • have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • use a person-centred approach in their work
  • make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that they plan and do
  • have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement in mental health and confidence.
At ASEND you will always be well supported by our highly qualified and experienced team and well-remunerated for your work.If you are seeking a truly rewarding position and are passionate about enriching the lives of young people, then do not hesitate to apply now and one of our specialist team will review your application.
