Job Description

Designated Nurse Looked After Children37.5 hours per week - 09.00 to 17.00. There is a requirement to attend occasional evening meetings. Places of Work

    • NHS Castle Point & Rochford, Mid Essex and NHS Southend Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) commission health services in the mid and south east of Essex. We are committed to ensuring the delivery of local, high quality services to meet the needs of the local population and to ensuring robust systems are in place across the health economy for safeguarding adults and children.We are looking for a confident, passionate and highly motivated nurse to appoint to the post of Designated Nurse Looked After Children. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our dynamic and friendly safeguarding team, to develop on their existing knowledge and skills and contribute to a challenging agenda.The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively across three CCGs to ensure that the CCG’s commissioned services are meeting their statutory responsibilities for Looked After Children (LAC) as both commissioners and employers (Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked After Children 2015). This will include providing assurance to the CCGs, Strategic Partners and working with Designated professioanls within the Safegurding Clinical Network to meet legislative requirements and strategic priorities for Looked After Children.The postholder will be responsible for providing professional leadership, advice, support and guidance in relation to a range of safeguarding work streams including adult protection, self-neglect, homelessness, mental health/mental capacity and be the lead for the implementation of Liberty Protection Safeguards and domestic abuse.The success candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of the statutory guidance and legislation in relation to Safeguarding and looked after children, care leavers, fostering and adoption and unaccompanied asylum seeking and be able to demonstrate service improvement and delivery to this cohort of children and young people.
