Howdens Joinery is looking for an experienced Shunter Driver to support the Raunds Distribution site.The job holder will systematically improve the operations performance of logistics by essentially managing trailers to ensure that goods can be delivered on time and undamaged.What will you be doing as Shunter Driver: As a shunter, you will support the Transport and Warehouse plan as directed by the Transport Supervisor / Yard Supervisor. Once the plan is delivered the job holder will be responsible for the trailers and will work without supervision, ensuring the trailersare moved to the right locations.The role requires the job holder to undertake responsibilities without direct supervision and demands the use of own initiative, to ensure that trailers are available as and when required. All decisions regarding trailers are the responsibility of the postholder, with any trailer defects or shortages being relayed to their line manager.The ability to understand and follow instructions is essential. The post holder is required to go through on-site training and ideally have previous experience in Transport / Distribution.The post holder will also be expected to carry out duties and other reasonable instructions as requested.A current clean Class 1 Driving (LGV C+E) Licence is essential and previous experience of undertaking shunting work would be highly desirable.Shift Pattern:Three-week shift rotation - 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm/10pm-6am.In return for your hard work and commitment, you will be rewarded with some great benefits, which include:
