"Its a privilege to work with such great people".The RoleAs the Vehicle and Equipment Technician you will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on Fire Service assets including heavy vehicles, light commercial vehicles, cars, plant, marine craft and other specialist equipment.Your responsibilities will include: Service and repair fire service vehicles, ancillary equipment, and non-operational equipment. Carry out planned/unplanned maintenance to a standard suitable for an emergency blue light Service and achieve Firefighter/staff and public safety. Manage/inspect/assess repairs to components. Use suitable testing methods to evaluate the performance of all components. Carry out assessments that meet customer requirements regarding vehicle/equipment repairs. This is the logo as it will appear on your branded landing page Complete all records for vehicle/equipment maintenance. Undertake equipment standard testing and upkeep of the reserve appliance fleet. Drive and road test all LGVs. Achieve the IRTEC technician licence and uphold the IRTEC code of conduct. Comply with the ICME. Promote the services core values and culture of equality. Attend meetings and training events as required. Use MS Office and software specific to the Fleet & Operational Assets Maintenance Department (Tranman/Navman). Perform all tasks with regard to health & safety procedures. Undertake out of hours call out (rota based)The Ideal Vehicle and Equipment TechnicianYou will need to possess a driving licence, and if you do not already hold an LGV licence you will need to be willing and able to gain an LGV licence within an agreed timeframe, as this is a mandatory requirement for the role. You will also have served anapproved Vehicle Apprenticeship Scheme. You should have a Motor Vehicle Qualification (City & Guilds/HVQ/equivalent).The ideal candidate will be organised and methodical, able to work well both in a team and individually.You will have: Excellent written and communication skills. good hand to eye coordination. Willingness to work at various locations. Recent experience of working within a heavy & light vehicle maintenance environment. Experience of finding electrical vehicle faults. Knowledge of hydraulic pressure systems. Be willing to undergo Security Disclosure. A strong stakeholder ethic with a customer-orientated approach.
