Job Description

Special Educational Needs Teaching Support Facilitator TERM TIME ONLY 38 weeks a year plus pro-rata holiday Temp to Perm £ 10.29 per hour to £ 12.00 depending on experience 37 hours a week Radstock, Somer Valley, Somerset ( 6 roles ) and Bath City ( 2 roles ) Ideal start date April /May 2021 This is a great role to support learners with special educational needs in a college environmentYou will help facilitate learning with students who need one to one support in the classroomIdeally, you will have experience of working with SEN learners in a previous roleThis role is key in providing excellent support to SEND Learners with EHCPs both within the Foundation provision and on the wider college courses. The post holder will work with a caseload of identified Learners with a variety of support needs using tools to promote independence. These will include the use of assistive technology and appropriate strategies for learners on their pathway to adulthood.

  • This role is a temp to perm role ( very likely to go perm ) and all successful candidates will need to undertake mandatory training in Safeguarding, PREVENT Health and Safety, and Mental Health Awareness ( online courses )
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role or a Teaching Assistant role Some learners will have personal care needs Facilitator responsibilities
  • Assist with initial, diagnostic, and other assessments
  • Work in close liaison with the Colleges Inclusion and Foundation Staff to provide effective support to identified Learners to enable them to fully access their learning programme and achieve successful outcomes
  • Proactively identify strategies to meet the needs of learners and to promote the use of assistive technology wherever possible to enable independence
  • Provide effective support for Learners including (but not limited to) 1:1 support, classroom support, out of class support (such as lunch and breaks), and on visits and study trips
  • Monitor learners progress and provide timely feedback on learners development which may be included in reports to parents, carers, employers and other external agencies using the College systems
  • A DBS will also be required for this role as working with vulnerable adults
