Job Description

Site Manager Contract Type:Permanent full year roleAurora White House School and Aurora Eccles SchoolPart of the Aurora Group, Aurora White House School and Aurora Eccles School in Quidenham, Norwichare looking foraFull time Site Manager to join our team.The schoolsprovide day placements for students aged 6 to 16 years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Somemay be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.To take a virtual look around the schools please click here:Eccles Virtual TourMain Purpose of the Role:The Site Manager is responsiblefor ensuring that all matters relating to the continuous operation, and maintenance of the buildings (including cleanliness during operating hours), grounds and equipment are managed in such a way that ensures a high-quality site service is provided at alltimes thus ensuring the safeguarding, health, safety and general well-being of all those accessing the site.By working with the School Business Manager, Principal and central estates department, the Site Manager will also support the development of the servicesthrough site expansion projects and integrating new/developed buildings.The support services teams are an essential pillar in enabling the children and young adults to achieve their full potential.Key Duties:Please note that duties willvary and you must expect to lend a hand wherever is required.For a full job description with duties, please contact Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Previous management of a site with multiple use and complex equipment and needs of those accessing buildings, grounds and equipment (previous experience of working within education and special needs settings preferred).
  • Flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of users with complex needs is essential.
  • Understands and can apply Legislation and Regulations relating to all aspects of site management e.g. to fire, health and safety, Legionella, asbestos, security, COSHH and Safeguarding (within a college/ school environment preferred).
  • Significant industry or trade experience to include general maintenance, preferably with a qualification in electrics / plumbing / carpentry. Alternatively, a construction trade.
  • Line Management experience which demonstrates ability to motivate others to deliver high quality standards.
  • Management of suppliers and contractors. Accredited management training is desirable.
  • Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance and grounds maintenance and to effectively delegate and monitor work of others.
  • Computer literacy skills essential due to the utilisation of internal systems.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations. Health and Safety qualification desirable.
Requirements:
  • The site and buildings will be used over 52 weeks of the year and the postholder carries the lead responsibility for the running of the sites and any linked buildings.
  • The role may from time to time require working at height and enhanced temperatures and noise levels and some lifting of heavy loads, subject to appropriate manual handling requirements.
  • The role has key holder responsibilities and the postholder may therefore be required to provide emergency access to areas of the site outside of normal working patterns and on call responsibilities.
  • This post is classed as having a high degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults which may often be unsupervised. The role will also have access to personal and sensitive data and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanceddisclosure will be sought through the Disclosure and Barring Service as part of our pre-employment checks which are repeated during employment.
  • The role will require some lone working; travel; physical work and the ability to drive
  • To be flexible with your operating hours, to allow for manual works to be done at a time when students are out of harms way.
