Job Description

Head of Senior SchoolMy Clients school provides flexible day placements for students aged 7 to 19 years with communication and associated difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.The School prides itself on their Specialist teaching ethos, together with small class sizes and a nurturing approach which enables students to work at a level and pace that’s right for them to achieve their goals. Focus is given to building self-esteem and confidence by implementing strategies to support students’ individual needs to engage in education, as well as developing their social and independence skills.We’re currently looking for aHead of Senior Schoolto provide inspirational and professional leadership to their Senior School and assist their Principal to embed the vision, direction and culture that inspires staff teams to work together to provide the highest standard of education and care whilst ensuring all business targets and budgets are met.Role as Head of Senior SchoolYour role is ultimately accountable for all areas of operational and educational performance within the Senior School.As their Head of Senior School, you will be a key player in shaping their provision; driving the curriculum development and achieving the ‘Outstanding’ school status that they want to be.To achieve this, you will be someone who inspires creativity and collaboration, a strong leader and a passionate advocate for your students, finding ways to deliver educational outcomes that make a real difference to them.Your role will be to create a culture that places excellence, equality and high expectations of attainment for all service users at the centre and ensures that everyone who uses their services is empowered to learn and make positive choices about their own lives.Experience as Head of Senior School:Successful candidate are likely to demonstrate:

  • A clear understanding of Ofsted frameworks and safeguarding legislation in relation to independent schools.
  • Qualified Teacher Status with further professional qualification in a relevant area. Candidates with Head teacher qualification (such as NPQH) or a willingness to gain such a qualification preferred.
  • Experience of working as a senior leader within an SEN environment
  • Experience of leading and managing a complex, responsive school.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary / therapeutic environment
  • Management qualification at level 5 or above
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and legislation that surrounds it.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial and financial/budget management
  • Team management experience.
  • Superb communication and stakeholder management skills
