Overview and Responsibilities Academic Intervention Co-OrdinatorLocation:Quidenham, Norwich, NR16 2NZSalary:Actual salary £23,479.24 - £25,623.40 dependant on qualificationsHourly rate:£13.14- £14.34 per hourHours:40 hours per week-Term Time only - Monday - Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm (5pm on Thursday, extra half hour taken off on another day)Closing date: 12noon Tuesday 9th JanuaryAurora White House School:Due to the continued growth of the school, we’re currently looking for an Academic Intervention Co-Ordinator to join our school. The successful candidate willCoordinating the literacy and numeracy interventions across the school.Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora White House School in Quidenham, Norwichprovides day placements for students aged 6 to 11 years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be onthe autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.With small classes, typically 7 children and a minimum of 3 staff per class you can focus on the needs of each student. There is a full clinical team onsite to support at all times and you will have the support of an experienced and stable SLT.To take a virtual look around our school please click here: White House Virtual TourKey Duties:Supporting Teaching and Learning

  • Know and understand the school’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systemsof supervision.
  • Provide support to individual/small groups of students where they have a specific area of need within literacy and numeracy.
  • Provide regular updates to teaching staff regarding progress and support strategies to support with the development of literacy in all subject areas.
  • Support the role of parents/carers in students’ learning and contribute to meetings with parents/carers to provide constructive feedback on student progress/achievement etc.
Student Welfare and Safeguarding
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
  • Monitor the students conduct and behaviour throughout the day and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues. To keep records of incidents, health, behaviour etc. as necessary and required.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development in students, maintaining high expectations of behaviour at all times.
  • Promote students’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being.
  • Work with students on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist/care professional.
Monitoring and Recording
  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on student attainment and progress.
  • Monitor and record student responses and learning achievement, drawing any issues which cannot be resolved to the attention of the teacher.

  • The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
  • GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of students with SpLD, ADHD and ASD.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience in the delivery of range of interventions eg Fresh Start, Lexia, Reading Plus, Accelerated Maths etc.
  • Experience working within education is advantageous.
  • Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
  • Knowledge of/experience in special educational needs, particularly autism is essential
