Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autismDo you have experience working with primary school-aged children and a deep understanding of their unique needsWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team working in local primary schools supporting pupils with Autism on a 1:1 basis.This role will be working in a local primary schools based in Neath & Port Talbot.Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a primary school pupil with autism, ensuring their individual needs are met throughout the school day.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes the pupils social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Implement and follow a personalized education plan, under the guidance of the classroom teacher and special education team.
  • Assist with the pupils daily routine, including transitions between activities, meals.
  • Collaborate closely with the school staff, parents, and other professionals involved in the pupils care to ensure consistent support and effective communication.
Requirements:
  • Child workforce DBS is required - Can accept DBS if on DBS update Service. (Applicant will need to pay £47.60 otherwise for a DBS)
  • Experience working with children with autism, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with strategies for supporting children with special needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the school team, parents, and external professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the pupil.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and structured environment that promotes learning and growth.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education or related fields are desirable.We offer competitive rates of pay and ongoing professional development opportunities.
