Job Description

Bridgend Flying Start ChildcarePermanent, 37hrs per week, 8am to 4pm£24,500 per annum Benefits Holiday allowance minimum 29 days (pro-rata) plus public/bank holidays,flexiblematernity, adoption and paternity packages, pension scheme where we contribute up to 7%, an employee discount portal and much, much more!A little about the role and serviceFlying Start Playgroups provide funded support for eligible children under 3 years old across a variety of locations in Bridgend. The core aim of the Welsh Governments Flying Start initiative is to develop these childrens chances early in life and givethem the best chance possible for their future.We are now seeking an experienced Playgroup Team Leader who can help us continue to deliver an excellent service to children. We provide Welsh and Bilingual sessional day care for children and help them to achieve their full potential in readiness for thenext step of their lives. Wed love to hear from individuals who have demonstrable experience of working in a child-centrered supervisory role and who can speak fluent Welsh. Our ideal candidate will have a keen passion for Early Years child care and havea solid understanding of best practice within the industry, gained from experience and study.Candidates with experience in a leadership role within early years are encouraged to apply, as are those who are currently in similar role.You will make a difference by:

  • Being responsible for the day-to-day running of the playgroup, in line with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Leading and encouraging the team to create a rich and stimulating play environment that promotes childrens development and encourages them to explore and discover
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess childrens development needs and implement appropriate support plans
  • Ensuring Safeguarding policies and procedures are in place throughout the service
  • Build and maintain excellent rapport with parents and stakeholders to ensure high quality of services being delivered
What are we looking for from you
  • CCLD Level 5 qualification or recognised equivalent (this is stipulated by CIW)
  • Welsh language skills at a fluent level, written and verbal (this is stipulated by the Welsh Government)
  • Leadership experience including supervision, delegation, performance management and staff development
  • Knowledge and understanding of CIW requirements and current relevant legislation
  • Must be a driver with own transport is essential
  • IT competency to an intermediate level to enable report writing and analysis
  • Experience within an early years setting is essential
Need to Know: The nursery follows term time for mainstream schools and is open for 39 weeks of the year.
