Job Description

Are you an experienced Hospital Director or with a history of success who can lead an established well-run serviceThe role of Hospital Director is pivotal in ensuring the overall success of the hospital as a self-contained enterprise that balances organisational efficiency, effectiveness and economy whilst delivering highquality healthcare with excellent outcomes forservice users and their families.Aderyn is a 17 bed rehabilitation service with controlled access for men with enduring mental health problems who may have a secondary diagnosis of a learning disability. There is also a two bed cottage within the grounds which offers step down rehabilitationfor people getting ready to move on.The two treatment pathways at Aderyn focus on recovery and rehabilitation where patients have the opportunity to improve their independence and prepare for life in the community. Individual and collaborative therapeutic timetables are developed for eachpatient and individual psychological therapies are offered. There are good community links with opportunities to study at colleges, gain work experience and increase social skills.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Have responsibility for the overall operational management of Aderyn Hospital coupled with the leadership and development of all departments.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of excellent care and operational performance, whilst continuing to develop commercial opportunities with purchasers and referrers.
  • Set the conditions to reap maximum benefit from opportunities to learn and develop both individuals and teams.
  • Establish and maintain sound, evidence based clinical, administrative and financial systems to deliver optimum outcomes for service users, staff and the wider hospital.
  • Establish and maintain a rich framework of governance activities that enable the delivery of safe, ethical and effective clinical and non-clinical services from Aderyn Hospital.
  • Continually invest in engagement activities designed to give voice to the views and aspirations of service users and their families/ carers.
  • Ensure both quality and financial targets are met, and facilitate the development of quality healthcare services, ensuring that they respond to the changing needs of purchasers and patients, and also reflect market trends and evidence based practice.
  • Lead the senior management team on site, developing the local service strategy, ensuring adherence to the services objectives, quality improvement and business plans.
  • Promote and enhance the hospitals reputation for specialist care and service.
  • Continually invest in staff engagement initiatives and set the climate for a positive work experience for all staff at the hospital.
  • Drive recruitment and retention initiatives to ensure the clinical and non-clinical teams are established in such a way as to minimise the need for temporary agency staff.
  • Promote effective and ethical HR practises at the hospital.
  • Participate in the Senior Management Team on-call rota.
  • Undertake the role of HIW Registered Manager, fully adhering to HIW expectations.
  • All employees have a responsibility for the safeguarding of patients detained / cared for within Elysium Healthcare.
  • Employees have a duty to attend the training provided by Elysium Healthcare in regard to Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children.
  • Submission of all required reports within defined guidelines.
  • Satisfactory internal and external audit, inclusive of internal provided compliance processes and Health Inspectorate Wales (HIW).
To be a successful Hospital Director, you will need:
  • An excellent track record in a management role within the healthcare sector (essential).
  • A clinical background in and understanding of Mental Health (desirable).
  • A passion for improving clinical quality and individual care.
  • An emphasis on performance and delivery in order to support successful service delivery and development, budget control, business development and revenue generation.
  • A credible, inclusive and supportive management style balanced with strong leadership and sound underpinning knowledge to provide direction and implement change.
  • Highly articulate in spoken and written communication.
  • Ability to provide commercial input at senior management level.
  • Confident, adaptable, resilient and commercially aware.
  • High degree of presence and ability to engage people.
  • Able to gain trust and maintain credibility whilst utilising human resources.
  • Knowledge of clinical and non-clinical operational activities within a health sector organization.
  • Working knowledge of the NHW and Independent Healthcare sectors.
