Job Description

Our client, a local authority based in Caerphilly are looking for an Assistant Engineer (Highways) to join their team. This is on a temporary ongoing contract basis.The purpose of the role is to:

  • Undertake a site agent/project management role as part of Network Contracting Services (NCS) with the delivery of both reactive and capital highway infrastructure construction related projects, including the delivery of highway maintenance and repairs,footway refurbishments, carriageway resurfacing and civil engineering schemes (including structures and retaining walls).
  • Deliver business profitability, requiring commercial awareness to ensure works are undertaken in an effective, efficient and economically viable manner, through high quality planning and value engineering solutions.
  • Work effectively with the Construction Team, under the direction of the Senior Engineer, for the efficient delivery of service provision.
  • Effectively manage works programmes and efficient monitoring of all allocated resources to ensure that works are completed within timescales, to budget and ensuring the completion of all documentation to enable this is achieved.
  • Ensure that health and safety is effectively managed with safety goals being set and met for work within remit.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;
  • HNC in Civil Engineering or similar
