Job Description

Engineering ApprenticeLocation: Lee Moor, Plympton and St Austell and surrounding areasHours of work: 37.5 hours a week, typically working Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours a day, between the hours of 7am to 3:30pm(Please note you will be required to work shift patterns once you start to spend more time on site)Starting Salary: £12,744 per annumDo you have an interest in Engineering Looking to start an exciting new career with a well renowned company who give you the opportunity to earn whilst you learn We have the job for you!Imerys Minerals Ltd are seeking to recruit several Engineering Apprentices to work at our operational sites in and around mid-Cornwall, and also an Apprentice to be based at our site at Lee Moor, Plympton.The apprenticeship follows the Mechatronics standard, which is a combination of mechanical and electrical engineering. Starting in September 2024, this apprenticeship will be delivered over a 36-month duration, consisting of a combination of attendance atcollege along with work-based learning, in order to gain practical skills and experience. Being exposed to a variety of engineering disciplines, you will be provided with the knowledge on how to maintain productivity of a busy Industrial Plant, whilst alwaysworking safely and adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.What’s in it for youOur workplaces are diverse and inclusive, and we foster a collaborative work culture which helps us continually drive innovation in our fields; there are lots of reasons to join us:

What we are looking for:Having a strong desire to progress within an engineering career, and showing an aptitude for this kind of work, is essential for this role. You will be reliable and punctual, be able to follow instructions and guidance, as well as:
  • Have GCSEs Grade C/4 and above to include English, Maths and Science
  • Hold a valid UK Driving Licence, OR able to obtain within 9 months of starting. Own transport is key to be able to move around sites as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Be IT literate.
  • Show respect for others, having regard for Diversity and Equality
  • Respond positively to change in a working environment.
  • Be able to integrate within the team and support others, as well as listening in to other people’s opinions.
  • Be able to maintain quality of work under pressure.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
