Support Worker Plymouth, DevonThe Company Maximising potential for over 20 years, Westcountry Case Management provides a specialist case management service that helps individuals recruit their own support workers. We have just been rated as Outstanding in our recent CQC inspection.Our ambition is to inspire clients, their relatives and professionals alike by consistently attaining excellent outcomes, supporting people with compassion and kindness.We are currently looking for a Support Worker to join our team in Plymouth and provide support and care to our client, a young man with an acquired brain injury, on a full-time basis.The Benefits - An hourly rate of £10.99 per hour on weekdays and £12.23 per hour on weekends- Sleep shifts (8 hours) paid at the National Living Wage- Work directly for the end service user and not an agency- Statutory benefits and holiday- Bonus schemeThe Role As a Support Worker, you will work as part of a team to provide support and care for our client, a man in his thirties who, after sustaining a brain injury in an accident in 2006, requires 24 hour 1-to-1 support at his home in Plymouth.You will assist with most areas of daily living, including household activities, vocational activities, leisure activities, socialising and trips away and holidays abroad. You will help to manage his cognitive difficulties, motivation and behaviour in varioussocial situations.Supporting the client, and his family, you will provide practical and emotional care, whilst ensuring his safety and physical wellbeing and facilitating his independence.Your role will involve:- Treating the client with respect and dignity at all times- Being aware of the clients vulnerability and taking precautions to protect it- Ensuring opportunities are given to participate in activities while achieving a balance between work and restThis is a permanent, full-time role, working 156 hours over four weeks (40 hours at sleep in rate) with bank hours also available, covering a 24/7 rota. Shifts will cover the following hours:Day shifts - 9.00am - 6.00pmNight shifts - 6.00pm - 9.00am (including an 8 hour sleep)24 hour shifts - 9.00am - 9:00amAbout YouTo be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:- To be sensitive toward cognitive impairment following brain injury- Excellent communication skills- The ability to use your own initiative and work as part of a team- An accuracy-oriented and flexible approach- A full, valid driving licenceAn NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in care would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of caring, or providing care, for clients with physical and communication difficulties, preferably in a community setting.A good understanding of the personal and physical needs of a client with physical andcognitive difficulties would also be advantageous.This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS, which the employer will obtain and fund on your behalf. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.The closing date for applications is the 28th February 2023.
