Job Description

A global aerospace and defence technology manufacturer require a Supplier Development Engineer. Applicants must be comfortable with supplier and supply chain liaison, and have a technical appreciation of manufacturing/engineering, processes, components and products.Working within a newly formed Supplier Development team, the Supplier Development Engineer will be a crucial link between Procurement and Quality. The Supplier Development Engineer will work collaboratively with the supply chain - helping them to achieve performance, quality and delivery KPIs, while also improving their internal processes.Specific duties of the Supplier Development Engineer include:

  • Foster excellent relationships with the supply chain, and be the focal point for all supplier communication
  • Identify supply chain risks and opportunities for closer collaboration with suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance - delivery, quality, processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure purchase parts are verified utilising AS9102
  • Supplier visits - represent views of the business to the suppliers
  • Supplier Development Engineer applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Experience in; Purchasing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering or Product Design
  • An appreciation of manufacturing processes; electronic and/or mechanical - desirable
  • Experience with CI, LEAN or problem solving tools such as 8D
  • Knowledge of auditing processes
  • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder engagement, with suppliers, procurement, engineering and quality
