St Luke’s Hospice requires a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work across in-patient and community settings. This dynamic and challenging role may suit a Band 5 OT who is looking to move into this specialist area of practice, or a Band 6 therapist who seeks consolidation of previous experience. Among other duties, the role encompasses equipment provision, moving and handling support, emotional support, providing teaching/education, problem solving and discharge planning.Working from the in-patient unit at Turnchapel, Plymstock, or the community base at Crownhill in Plymouth, the post holder will provide truly holistic support to clients and their carers at this difficult time of life. Whilst the role can be busy and challenging, there is great reward in helping make a real difference to the quality of life and levels of independence to those with life limiting conditions. The post holder will be well supported by other members of the therapy team, and wider highly experienced multi disciplinary team. In addition, there will be a bespoke induction programme, and ongoing specialist training/CPD development opportunities.St Luke’s is a friendly, dynamic and progressive organisation, where innovation and a ‘can-do’ ethos is championed; we would value those with the desire to work in this specialist area, over previous experience in working with those with life limiting illnesses.St Luke’s is committed to the development of its staff and is recognised by IIP.As a staff member of St Luke’s you will receive an attractive employment package, which includes 7 weeks annual leave rising with service (inc. bank hols) and membership to a cash back health plan. For external applicants, previous NHS service will be counted for annual leave and sickness benefits. Current NHS Pension members will be able to continue contributions.Applicants wishing to work full and part-time hours will be considered.A Disclosure & Barring Service check will be required for these posts. We would encourage informal discussions regarding this post with the Head of Specialist Community Team Jen Nicholls / Closing Date: 1st February 20211st Interview Date: 8th February 2021Reg Charity No:280681
