Senior Test Engineer (Gas Turbines)SF32416Devonport Royal Dockyard, PlymouthStarting Salary: £36,525About the roleWere looking for a Senior Test Engineer (Gas Turbines) within the Warship Commissioning Group to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. Were a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes. We apply our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.The Warship Commissioning Group is a multi-disciplined group within the Warships Business Unit that carries out the Installation, STW, and Harbour Trials of Marine Engineering Systems on RN Warships and Landing Craft and it supports vessels in Devonport, at sea and around the world.As the Senior Commissioning Test Engineer, you will undertake testing and commissioning of the relevant systems and equipment on a wide variety of platforms. You will act as the groups subject matter expert for Gas Turbines and Propulsion Chain, providing training and technical support to the group and customer. You will carry out Inspections and Commissioning on HM Warships of Gas Turbine Propulsion and other marine engineering equipment. You will run test documentation in support of this and look to diagnose and help to fix any faults to the Gas Turbines.What do I need to do the roleYou will have considerable experience working on Gas Turbine/Propulsion Systems within a marine environment and a significant understanding of Gas Turbine/Propulsion Chain/Systems and other marine engineering equipment. You will have extensive knowledge of Royal Naval Ships Marine Systems and experience working on at least one of the following: gear boxes, shaft lines or mechanical systems.You will have an HNC/NVQ 4 (or equivalent) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. Alternative qualifications and experience may be considered in lieu.What else do I need to knowYou will be based at HMND Devonport, Plymouth and may occasionally be required to travel to sites both within the UK and overseas in support of sea trials. You will work 36 hours per week Monday to Friday and you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance before starting.
