Senior Specialist Trainer (Health Physics) SF35570Business Unit: SubmarinesLocation: Devonport, PlymouthSalary: £33,790About the roleThe Health Physics Operations Group (HPOG) supports all work with ionising radiation within Devonport Royal Dockyard, including the repair and maintenance activities on Royal Navys submarines and associated facilities. The overall department direction of theHPOG is to lead, manage and provide a customer focussed radiation protection service, where all staff are competent, decisions are consistent and everyone ensures compliance with regulations.We are currently looking for a trainer who can provide specialist health physics training. The role reports to the Health Physics Manager (Training & Development) and you will be part of the dedicated HPOG training team. This team is committed to developing,maintaining and growing an effective, capable and resilient department that is capable of delivering industry leading and legally compliant training.The Senior Specialist Trainer (HP) (SST(HP)) role is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of initial and continuation training programmes within the HPOG to ensure competency of staff to meet the overall department direction and regulatoryrequirements. This includes use of the company Training Quality Management System (TQMS) to develop and review a framework of key learning points, presentations, lesson plans, assessment papers and training records. The role also requires taking prime responsibilityfor the management of an assigned group of Heath Physics monitor trainees - providing guidance, support, tutoring and mentoring, and taking corrective action where necessary to ensure the required training standards and programmes are met.Health & Safety is of key importance within the HPOG and the company as a whole, it is expected that the SST(HP) will act as a role model for health and safety behaviours.What do I need to do the roleThe candidate will have a minimum of NVQL2 in Radiation Protection (or equivalent) and 5 GCSEs of which English, Maths and Science at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent). Their experience must demonstrate operational knowledge & practitioner experience withradiological protection practice, radioactive waste management arrangements, site emergency & contingency arrangements, working with radioactive materials. They must be computer literate and able to use the standard Microsoft programmes.What else do I need to know about the role* You will work a 36 hour week Monday-Friday with flexible start and finish times.* The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements.
