Job Description

Senior Electrical EngineerLocation: PlymouthSalary: CompetitiveAbout the Company:Our client is an independent Engineering & Construction Consultancy based in the South of England.Due to continued success, they have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join the expanding team in their Plymouth office.Reporting to the company Directors, the successful candidate will be capable of working autonomously and as part of a team to deliver a range of public and private sector projects.As an experienced Senior Engineer, you will demonstrate a sound understanding of electrical building services with experience in construction and the built environment. A knowledge of renewables and sustainable design would also be an advantage. You will be expected to manage your own workload and prioritise key tasks to meet critical project deadlines.Our client will provide the tools and technology necessary for you to complete your duties and will offer additional support and formal training for the right candidate.The role would suit an outstanding Intermediate Engineer who is driven to succeed and looking to progress their career with an increased level of responsibility and autonomy.Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Represent our client in a professional and diligent manner at all times.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationship with clients, stakeholders, and subconsultants.
  • Carry out site inspections and attend meetings with clients, project teams and contractors.
  • Deliver high quality electrical engineering design deliverables including calculations, drawings, models, specifications, schedules, reports and other technical documentation as required.
  • Take ownership of multiple projects and actively seek information required to progress designs.
  • Prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge and experience.
  • Seek, complete and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with the requirements of a relevant Professional Institution.
  • Contribute positively to the office environment.
    • Senior Electrical Engineer Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering with an electrical bias (or an equivalent qualification).
  • Relevant experience in an Electrical Engineering capacity, with a minimum of three years based in the United Kingdom.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or working towards Professional Registration (IEng or CEng).
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) and the ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Good Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, guides, and industry best practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of sustainable and low carbon design.
  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and a commitment to independent learning.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in key aspects of Electrical Engineering Design including Power Distribution, Lighting, IT and Communications Infrastructure, Fire Detection and Alarm, Security and Access Control, Earthing, Bonding and EMC, UPS and Generators.
  • Experience in the delivery of Defence, Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Education, Retail, Residential, and Mixed-Use Development projects.
  • Excellent working knowledge of BS 7671:2018 The Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant software packages including Autodesk AutoCAD, Amtech,
  • Dialux, Relux, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. Experience with Autodesk Revit would be an advantage.
