Reliability EngineerSF32499Devonport, PlymouthStarting Salary: £36,525About the roleWere looking for a Reliability Engineer to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. As a warship support partner to the Royal Navy, Babcock is a provider of deep maintenance, in-service maintenance and operational support for UK warships. The Warships Technical Authority (WTA) is a multi-disciplined organisation within the Warships Business Unit, which maintains design intent of Warships, and provides exciting career opportunities across a range of engineering, safety, environmental and supportability disciplines.You will be working alongside other highly qualified and knowledgeable Engineers and Data Analysts to deliver through life support to complex Warships through an exciting programme of change, delivering an Enhanced WTA capability which will increase the availability of ships, reduce engineering risk, and ultimately reduce overall costs for the MoD.You will provide Reliability Engineering technical knowledge and expertise in support of Type 23 Frigates, Amphibious Assault Ships and Single Role Mine Hunters. You will also work closely with the Class Output Management (COM) teams, directly supporting the Class Lead Engineers to maintain design intent of warships.This will entail the provision of technical support to the Warships Supportability Programme and the conduct of supportability studies, reports, and proposals with the aim of improving the reliability, and therefore availability, of key systems and equipment.This post will be key to the development of Reliability Engineering capability growth in the WTA, including the use of software tools, such as Reliasoft, and the delivery of the Supportability Programme across the Warship Business Unit.What do I need to do the role• Experience as a Reliability Engineer• Must come from a Mechanical or Electrical Marine Engineering background• IEng (or equivalent) preferable and member of relevant institution.• Engineering qualification in relevant discipline, with significant demonstrable experience.• Proven Reliability Engineering experience.What else do I need to know• The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving Security Check (SC) clearance.• We are happy to talk about flexible working.
