Job Description

Product Cell ManagerSF31036Location: Devonport, PlymouthStarting Salary: £36,525About the RoleHere at Babcock International were looking for a Product Cell Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. Were a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world.The Factory Groups purpose is to provide Shop Services to Royal Navy Submarine and Warship programmes and the wider Dockyard infrastructure. The Pipeshop provides a wide range of pipe manufacture, repair and overhaul. As the Pipeshop Manager youll be responsible for the management of the Pipeshop and Chemical Cleaning facility, including a multi-skilled team of marine pipe workers, welders and machinists.Using your experience of pipework manufacturing methodologies/marine pipework systems youll lead by example, providing technical expertise to the team and driving the production processes, giving equal focus to safety, product quality, cost, welfare, customer engagement, operations, people and performance management. Youll effect a culture of continuous improvement - including introducing improved working methods and new technologies and supporting ISO9001 certification.What do I need to do the roleYoull hold a minimum of HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline and/or have significant technical experience. Extensive knowledge of pipework manufacturing methodologies for marine pipework systems and supervisory experience in a workshop environment are also essential for this role.We would also like you to have the following:

  • Managerial H&S qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, British Safety Council)
  • Interpretation of technical drawings; Welding and NDE processes experience
  • Experience of Quality processes and documentation; ISO 9001
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; databases; IT systems
  • Implementation of H&S/organisation policies and procedures
  • Lastly, youll need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership capability and effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal); the ability to drive continuous improvement activities and to interface positively with the production teams and our internal customers in order to achieve improved delivery outputs.What else do I need to knowThe successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements.
